Sailing yacht: from England, unique in its characteristics, basic materials: mahagony, teak, brass
The name of this beautiful "lady": S I G A
In analogy to international classifications the yacht belongs to the group of "ketch-types". It is precisely 57.3 ft long (overall), endowed with a Mercedes engine and a gearbox developed by "Weber" (highly appreciated trademark, solid quality work).
The photos at hand were taken during the summer season in 2008. The video was filmed 2.5 years ago (link may be sent by e-mail, more photos are available as well. Just contact us and we will quickly provide you with further information!)
The yacht has a hull entirely made of mahogany (massive standard), a deck bottom-covered with teak and the sail areas of the "SIGA" constitute 130 m² (both parts as a sum).
The "SIGA" was exclusively designed by James Taylor, a Liverpoolian engineer. Finally, in 1957, these plans were realised and the "SIGA" was built in Chertsay. The yacht represents one of the last 3 maxi-cruisers having a common constructional concept (this "series" has recently been revealed by a sort of coincidence!). Moreover, the "SIGA" has a Maltese registration (very seldom in those days, only 10 % were given one).
In order to point out the value of the yacht, we will quote the following fact: In 2007, there was a request for chartering the boat. The amazing offer then was 50.000 Euro and it referred to only a single summer period. The owner, however, decided to refuse this proposal for he wanted to be left alone (quite unclever to ignore such a great business, isn't it!?)
Here are the answers to the most frequent questions:
The interior is manufactured with precious woods: Teak from Burma and expensive mahogany truly embellish this naval piece of art. The "SIGA" is a real gem amongst the yachts of this time. If you enjoy in "everlasting nostalgia", this offer is a genuine opportunity to fulfill a dream. The "SIGA" needs a little bit of care and tender loving right now, it's up to you! - but first read on:
The well-located marina in Pula has already been paid up to October 2008 (incl.). Of course, the anchorage could be easily adopted by the new owner. All the papers concernig red tape (bureaucracy) are present (you can either get them in England or we'll send them by post) (one sheet has a slight tear!). The registration of the ownership will be done in Hamburg, Germany. Currently the yacht sails under a German flag. After having replaced the main mast, the "SIGA" will be seaworthy immediately again. If you want, we can also contact a reliable firm who will perform the changing of the mast. Thus you would have low costs (below the level of 750 GBP!) and you would benefit from a well-organised service (comprising both crane activity and the installation itself). This is a company we had very good experiences with and which we can definitely recommend to you!
Now it's your turn! Make up your mind! What you ought to consider when browsing through similar offers: Very often mahogany hulls are sold separately. The prices hereby can range from 60.000 up to 80.000 GBP. (and these are, frankly speaking, sometimes of a very poor quality in contrast to our hull)
With a little comittment and time (colouring, antifouling etc.), you can rise the ketche's value tremendousy and resell it at a price of 100.000 up to 150.000 pounds. This will definitely pay!
Data describing the "SIGA":
length of the hull: 57.3 ft (o.a.) height of the mast: 62.33 (note that it must be replaced!) height (starting from the water line): 51.83 ft breadth: 13.78 ft (according to the papers) weight: approximately 20 tons draught: 6.233 ft water capacity: 220 gallons fuel capacity: 440 gallons sail areas: 130 m² thickness of the mahogany hull: 1,6 inches (coated with copper) thickness of the deck: 3 inches
distance: Munich-Pula : about 500 kilometres
